This is a tale of obsession, lust, greed, lies and murder. New-to-town-Sophie becomes besties with Margot and her two trailing friends, doing her best to become a third trailing friend.
The death of one of their son’s girlfriends has lies and accusations being flung around all willy nilly, resulting in people being accused of crimes they claim to have not committed.
So, here’s the thing. I thought it was gross that Margot and Sophie were both messing around with a pair of 18-year-olds that were still in high school, while they were minimum two decades older.
But I let that go. This story was very popular and they even recreated it on Netflix, so I gave it better than my best college try. In the end I just got tired of reading about how unfair Sophie’s life was and how she was being framed. For not one murder, but now two?
Another point of contention: Sophie’s husband paid for an expensive lawyer to represent her. So why, when she was being pulled in for questioning regarding the second murder, didn’t she plead the fifth until the lawyer got there? Instead, the detectives pressed record, and she started talking.
I had to end this early. This wasn’t my cup of tea. I should have went with my gut when Mz. Cobb brought up messing around with teenage boys. Lesson learned.
