This has been on my list of amends readings and I’m glad I finally did! This story told of a time in the future when there was a social split between ordinary humans and those with superhuman abilities.
Abilities included, but were not limited to: throwing fire, controlling water and using their mind to throw knives and other such dangerous objects. This social class became known as Silvers, named for the Silver blood that flows through their veins.
Then there was the Reds, as you may imagine they bled Red, they are the underdogs, the servants, the dispensable soldiers in a senseless war. They may have been held down under oppression but they were rising like the Red dawn to take back their freedoms and their lives.
The story was well-paced, well thought out, and chocked full of sitting-on-the-edge-of-my-seat-wanting-to-read-another-page fight scenes, all the while the suspense holds one dangling by Mz. Aveyard’s crafty prose over the ledge well into and through her last pages.
I highly suggest taking a dive into this extraordinary world originating in Mz. Aveyards imaginations. She has set herself a high bar and easily pulled off a perfect pole vault.
