The Silent Patient

Date: July 16, 2025

Author: Alexis Michaelides

Genre: psychological thriller, mystery, suspense

Oh my gosh! I was not prepared for the twist at the end! Well done Mr. Michaelides!

Alicia, a mental health patient was tried and convicted of murdering her husband, 5 bullets to the face later and she found herself not in the big house but instead in the crazy house. A new psychotherapist has been assigned to her case and he jumps in the deep end trying to help his patient by digging up relatives and investigating what happened and what they could do about it today to not only get the patient talking again, but also to discourage her  violent outbursts against other residents. One example of such an outburst began when the victim was claimed to have been singing the little kid kissing in a tree song followed with defacing Alicia’s painting project. Alicia retaliated with a paintbrush to the singing patient’s eye. Yikes!

When not at work, the psychotherapist is trying to figure out his home life. It appears the wife is having a torrid affair, but you’ll never figure out with who!

This book was great fun, and I highly suggest it!
