Fred & Adele Astaire are a brother and sister dancing & comedy partnership from the early 1920’s. I read along as they twirled and shimmied their way through London, Paris and New York. Wowing their fans with fancy footwork and well-delivered punch lines in each performance.
Mz. Knight, the author, is a historian and put together an interesting manuscript. Unfortunately, this book didn’t call to me. The writing was fairly dry and seemed more matter-of-fact and less emotionally involved. There was some interactions on a personal level between the characters, but mostly it read as an article written for a 1920’s gossip magazine/publication, entitled The Limelight.
I felt I read about one too many dance numbers and decided to let the curtains fall early.
