Author: Katherine Faulkner

Genre: domestic thriller, psychological suspense

I knew this book was going to be a stunner as soon as I read the praise from my favorite author, Ruth Ware, on the cover.

The story is told of three women coming to their late terms of pregnancy. The new girl that showed up to ‘crash the party,’ if you will, appeared on the scene at the Lamaze class Helen was attending whilst feeling salty at her sister-in-law for bailing on doing that very same Lamaze class together with her. Like they had planned.

Sadly, it seemed as though all the other moms had all paired up and made friends leaving Helen the odd woman out. Overwhelmed with feelings of loneliness, anxiety, self-consciousness, disappointment, etc. she ends up befriending the only other lone woman around and clings to her for support. Not in the most healthy of ways either, but sometimes having a friend is better than the alternative. Right?

You’ll have to read to find out.

A sample of Katherine Faulkner’s beautiful prose can be found on page 344, “Pavement puddles hold up a gray mirror to the metal sky.” Think on that for a moment!
