This story told a tale of murder, women uplifting women, and the downfall of many a London gent. Turns out it was pretty easy to get rid of any male nuisance in any woman’s life in that place and in that time. Took naught but a letter dropped into the barley bin of the local apothecary, requesting a potion of poison.
Just such a dropping of a letter occasion brought Nella and Eliza to meet. Eliza, the 12-year-old maiden was tasked by her mistress with the job of dismissing her master. Permanently.
After she did and his spirit passed Eliza became terrified of being haunted by his ghost as revenge for killing him. The lady of the house was leaving to ‘grieve’ her husband for a span of a few weeks, leaving Eliza alone in the home that was most likely super haunted. Terrified of being in the house alone Eliza hits the streets and pairs up with the apothecary, Nella.
Together this duo eludes the police at every turn because, surprise this wasn’t the safest line of work to be in when you’re trying to stay on the outside side of jail bars.
One of the many parts that I had a problem with was when Caroline jumped the fence to go look around inside a 200+ year old building that may or may not be super haunted. At dusk. With a dying cell phone. Not knowing if she’ll be able to jump back over said fence to leave, and it was inconveniently located at the end of a deserted alleyway. Yikes!
