Presumed Innocent

Date: January 21, 2025

Author: Scott Turow

Genre: legal thriller, crime/murder mystery

This book was Mr. Scott Turow’s debut novel. I was thoroughly enjoying this story and was even making bold predictions as to which way the author might could lead us down.

The defendant in the story? A chief deputy prosecutor turned murder defendant. I had a sneaky suspicion that the defendant just may have done all he was accused of. However, fate shifted in the accused’s favor when the local cops bungled the investigation by misplacing the key piece of evidence…

The glass with the thumbprint.

I lost interest when Mr. Turow over explained and over analyzed the meager evidence the prosecutors had to work with, and it wasn’t long until the two covers come together one final time.

Apologies if this turned out to be the best book of the decade, I just wasn’t into it.

Oh! One more thing that was kind of fun. This book was from 1988. It’s the original edition. It even has the old school sheaf of paper the librarians used to stamp with ink the checked-out date and the due date. It felt reminiscent of my youth, and I liked that bit of nostalgia.
